Download the Template
The CSV template comes from the platform, not from a saved copy. Download a fresh one before every upload.
Log in and go to the My Autura Selling tab.
Select Add vehicles in the top right of the Selling Dashboard.
Select the Upload file tab inside the modal.
Find the CSV files section.
Select Click here in the line that reads "Click here to download our formatted template."
WATCH OUT Do not reuse an old template. Column headers have to match the current template exactly. If they do not, the whole file is rejected with a mapping error. |
File Requirements
Format: CSV only, saved as CSV UTF-8. Excel files, PDFs, and other formats are rejected.
Row limit: 100 vehicles per upload. The Add vehicles button is disabled above 100 rows.
Columns: every column from the template must be present, even when the optional cells are blank.
No blank rows: delete empty rows before you upload. They are read as vehicles with no VIN.
Encoding: standard UTF-8. Files with encoding problems fail to parse.
VIN Rules
The VIN column causes more failed rows than anything else in the file.
Standard VINs are 14 to 17 characters, letters, numbers, or hyphens.
Non-standard VINs are 1 to 20 characters.
For a vehicle with no visible VIN, enter NO VIN. UNKNOWN and NOT VISIBLE also work. Fill in the Standard/Non-standard column on those rows as usual.
WATCH OUT An empty VIN cell is not the same as entering NO VIN. Blank cells error out. Type the words. |
NOTE On standard VINs, the decoder fills in Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain and overwrites whatever you put in those three columns. Do not count on your own values there. Check them on the listing after the import and fix them on the vehicle if they are wrong. |
Prices and Fees
Every price and fee column takes whole dollars. No dollar signs, no commas, no decimals, no text.
$500 is entered as 500
$1,000 is entered as 1000
Anything else in a price field errors that row.
NOTE The template column is named Minimum Bid. Everywhere else, including the listing form, the Bulk Editor, and the rest of this help center, the same field is called Starting bid. Use Minimum Bid as the header in your file. |
Sending Vehicles to a Specific Lot
Uploaded vehicles land at your account's default location unless the row carries a Lot Location ID. If you run more than one lot, every vehicle in the file goes to the default lot unless each row has the right ID on it.
NOTE Lot Location IDs are not visible from your Selling Dashboard. Contact your Customer Success Manager or support to get the IDs for your locations before you build the file. |
Column Reference
Headers must match the template exactly. Optional columns can hold empty cells, but the column itself has to be in the file.

Upload the File
Open the Add vehicles modal and go to the Upload file tab.
In the CSV files section, select Browse and pick your completed file.
Review the parsed results. The platform shows how many vehicles it read out of the file before you commit.
Select Add vehicles to confirm the import.
Check your Selling inventory and confirm the expected number of vehicles arrived as Drafts.
NOTE There is no confirmation message after the import finishes, so check the inventory yourself. |
SUCCESS If some rows pass and some fail, the good rows import and the failed ones are reported individually. Fix and resubmit only the failed rows. You do not need to upload the whole file again. |
Why Rows Fail to Import
Some problems reject the whole file. Others skip a single vehicle and let the rest through.
The whole file is rejected
What happened | How to fix it |
Missing the VIN or Standard/Non-standard column | The system cannot map the file without these two. Start again from a fresh template. |
Headers do not match the template | Download the current template and move your data into it. |
Wrong file type | Only CSV is accepted. Save as CSV UTF-8 and upload again. |
File is too large | Split it into smaller files and upload them one at a time. |
More than 100 rows | The Add vehicles button stays disabled. Cut the file down to 100 vehicles or fewer. |
Encoding or parsing error | Resave the file as CSV UTF-8. |
A single row is skipped
What happened | How to fix it |
Blank row in the file | Read as a vehicle with no VIN. You will see "VIN is required, missing on row X." Delete empty rows. |
Same VIN twice in the file | Each VIN has to be unique within one upload. Remove the duplicate. |
VIN already in your inventory | The VIN is already on a listing or auction in your account. Remove it from the file. |
VIN fails the format check | Standard VINs are 14 to 17 characters, non-standard 1 to 20. Correct the value. |
Standard VIN will not decode | The format is fine but the decoder has no match. Re-enter that vehicle as a non-standard VIN. |
Price field is not a whole dollar amount | Strip the dollar signs, commas, decimals, and text out of Reserve Price, Floor Price, Minimum Bid, the fees, and Lien Amount. |
Year out of range | Use a number from 1900 to 2100, or 0. |
Odometer over 8 digits | Enter a whole number no longer than 8 digits. |
License Plate State too long | Use the two-character state code. |
Additional Notes too long | Trim the note to 2,048 characters. |
After the Upload
Imported vehicles sit in your Selling Dashboard as Drafts. Before any of them can be scheduled:
Complete the required listing fields: vehicle details, photos, and pricing. See How to List a Vehicle on Autura Marketplace.
Check Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain on standard-VIN vehicles. The decoder overwrote whatever was in the file.
Confirm pricing looks the way you intended. Reserve Price, Floor Price, and Starting bid (the Minimum Bid column in your file) can all be changed on the listing after import.
Confirm lot assignment if you have more than one location. Rows without a Lot Location ID landed at your default lot.
TIP An upload holds up to 100 vehicles and the Bulk Editor changes up to 100 vehicles. Import the file, then select the same group and set your bids and fees in one action rather than opening each vehicle. See the Edit Multiple Vehicles at Once section of How to List a Vehicle on Autura Marketplace. |
