Bid Increments

Help Autura Marketplace users understand how much their bid goes up each time they place a bid, and why the amount changes as the price rises.

When to use this article

Use this article if any of the following apply:

  • You want to know how much your next bid will add to the current price.

  • The amount the Bid button adds changed from one bid to the next and you want to know why.

  • You are planning how high to bid and want to understand the steps along the way.

Background

Every bid on Autura Marketplace moves up by a set amount above the current high bid. That amount is called the bid increment. The increment is based on where the current high bid sits, so lower-priced vehicles move in small steps and higher-priced vehicles move in larger ones. The increments are the same across every seller on the platform.

How increments work

Your bid has to be at least one increment above the current high bid. Here is how the increments break down:

  • Current high bid of $500 or less: goes up by $10

  • $501 to $2,000: goes up by $50

  • $2,001 to $10,000: goes up by $100

  • $10,001 to $20,000: goes up by $200

  • Over $20,000: goes up by $250

When you place a bid, the Bid button shows the exact amount it will add, for example "Bid + $50." As the price climbs into a new range, the button updates automatically to the next increment.

What to do

If the Bid button amount looks wrong

Check the current high bid against the ranges above. The increment is tied to the current high bid, not your maximum or the starting price, so the amount will change as the vehicle moves between ranges.

If your bid was rejected for the wrong increment

Your bid amount has to land on a valid increment above the current high bid. Use the Bid button rather than entering a custom amount, and it will set the correct figure for you.
